These two DIY Origami projects will be a great way to use all the pretty paper, and also to give your home a fresh look for early 2014. A great way to reuse and recycle.

DIY Christmas Round-up

DIY Christmas Round-up. Via NEST Vintage & Handmade.
It's time to Deck the Halls! Here are some lovely DIY ideas to make your home more festive. Here in Australia we'd have to imagine a White Christmas, so the brightly coloured pink and greens mixed with the traditional reds and forest greens are a fresh take on traditional Christmas decor.

Style Me Pretty has the loveliest ideas, don't they? I'm loving this fresh Thanksgiving Wreath, and I noticed they're using eucalyptus in the wreath (which is readily available here in Australia). Beautiful!

NEST DIY - Wedding Bouquets

NEST Vintage & Handmade: DIY Wedding Bouquets (updated photo)
hand-tied Bridal bouquet with white roses, white dahlias and greenery

Sorry for the blogging absence; we are having a great time in America. My husband has already travelled back to Australia after 3 weeks to go back to work. Emmy and I will be here for another week and a bit.

We came for my friend's wedding, which happened a week ago. It was beautiful! She had a rustic burlap-and-lace themed wedding and us bridesmaids had Peacock blue dresses. The venue was a gorgeous log-cabin called the Field House. I had the privilege of doing the wedding bouquets and boutonnières. This is the fifth wedding that I've done the bridal flowers for. The brides wish was to have lots of greenery and white flowers in an
a-symmetrical arrangement. The bride's bouquet (above) was "dinner plate sized", and the bridesmaids bouquets (below) were "dessert plate sized". Creature Comforts blog had some great tutorials on DIY wedding bouquets, click here. Click here for my Pinterest Board, 'Jami's Peacock Inspired Wedding'.

Tips for Travelling with an Infant or Toddler

NEST Vintage & Handmade: Travelling with Infant or Toddler via Science of Mom

In a week and a half we'll be flying from Melbourne AUS to Seattle USA with our 16 month old! I'm a little more than nervous for the flight and connections and how she'll cope on the flight. I found this great article over at Science of Mom blog, full of tips for travelling with an infant or toddler! See the article Here.

Some of the tips include packing toys that the child hasn't seen before, bringing low mess packaged foods, clothing for easy diaper/nappy changes, and don't be ashamed to use technology to entertain your child!

Another thing that someone told me is that you can wrap up the new toys (or activities like colouring books, etc.), that the child can unwrap during the flight. This makes it fun for the child and adds an element of surprise.

A couple extra tips are to make sure that there are infant beds available on your preferred flight before you make the booking. We called our airline to make sure there were beds available before we made the booking.

We are lucky enough to have friends and family in Seattle so we asked if they had a carseat and porta-crib that we could borrow. Any items that you don't have to rent and pay for the better.

I'll let you know how the flight goes!

DIY Balloon "Dipped" Mason Jars

What a clever idea! The "dipped" craze is sweeping the nation at the moment, and this Balloon-Dipped idea is a great way to preserve the Mason Jars so you can reuse them again.

DIY Polka Dot Throw Blanket

Today is my birthday. Yay! Emmy and I are going to have a girls day out and go shopping. We celebrated with the family last weekend, so it's going to be a quiet one today.

But on to more important things... Polka Dots! I love them; I mean I have a dangerous obsession for polka dots. I'm loving this DIY Polka Dot blanket that Say Yes to Hoboken put together last year before the holidays (which are right around the corner, might I remind you!).

Get the 'how-to' here.

DIY Cat Pin

It was recently my sister's birthday and we love to make each other gifts for birthdays and Christmas. So I made her a felt pin look-alike of her cat, Chuck Taylor. What to do you get a girl that has everything? A cat pin of course!

I also designed the card behind the pin and printed it on craft paper cardstock. I'm going to slip it into a cellophane pouch to give it a professional look.

I got the idea and the tutorial over here from the always adorable and inspiring blog, One More Mushroom

I then wrapped up the little critter in some cute Kikki.K wrapping paper (the reverse side says "Happy Birthday" but I prefer the Geo pattern side).

You can print the "You're Gonna Like What I Got For You" tag for FREE over here

DIY Cloud Cushion

I found this DIY Cloud Cushion over at Livet Hjemme. It's made from IKEA fabrics. The original post is in Norwegian, but your trusty internet browser can translate it. I have some extra fabric laying around that would be great to use for this project. Lovely idea for a nursery.

Caramel Machiato Cupcakes Recipe. Yum Yum!

For a long time now I have dreamed about owning and running a cafe. I grew up working in coffee shops and I've even attended espresso/coffee conventions and have read books on the subject. Total coffee nerd right here! IF I did have my own cafe I would definitely be serving delicious cupcakes like these Caramel Machiato Cupcakes. They look to-die-for!

I also love the idea of raw materials and a community feel to the cafe. AND I would sell fresh flowers... just because.

You can see the rest of my collections of inspiring photos on my 'My maybe 'One Day' Cafe... *sigh*' Pinterest board. If you want to check out and follow the rest of my Pinterest boards, click the Pinterest logo on the right of this page.

Featured Etsy Shop: Max & Olivia

My featured Etsy shop today is 'Max & Olivia'. I recently purchased supplies from this lovely shop for Emmy's birthday party. I spent so much time looking through the beautiful photos in the shop before making my decision of getting some wooden utensils and brown craft bags for party favors.

I recommended the shop to my friend who is having a wedding in a couple months and she's ordered some things too.

It's a great shop and I like their tagline, 'helping you deliver happiness'. Wonderful!
